本品为红棕色或绿棕色的澄清液体；有特异的芳香气，味辛、微温。 本品与三氯甲烷、乙醚或石油醚任意混溶。 相对密度 应为0.950～0.980（通则0601）。 比旋度 取本品约10g，精密称定，置100ml量瓶中，加90%乙醇适量使溶解，再用90%乙醇稀释至刻度，摇匀，放置10分钟，在25℃依法测定（通则0621），比旋度应为－66°～－43°。 折光率 应为1.503～1.513（通则0622）。
检查
乙醇中的不溶物 取本品1ml，加90%乙醇10ml，摇匀，溶液应澄清（25℃）。
贮藏
遮光，密封，置阴凉处。
鉴别
取本品0.3g，加石油醚（60～90℃）15ml溶解，用2mol/L氢氧化钠溶液3ml提取，用2mol/L盐酸溶液调节pH值至2.0，再用石油醚（60～90℃）6ml振摇提取，分取石油醚层并浓缩至0.5ml，作为供试品溶液。另取百秋李醇对照品和广藿香酮对照品，分别加乙酸乙酯制成每1ml各含4mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取供试品溶液2μl、对照品溶液各1μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以石油醚（60～90℃）-乙酸乙酯-甲酸（10∶0.7∶0.6）为展开剂，展开，取出，晾干，5%三氯化铁乙醇溶液浸渍显色，加热至斑点显色清晰。供试品色谱中，在与百秋李醇对照品相应的位置上，显相同的紫蓝色斑点；在与广藿香酮对照品相应的位置上，显相同颜色的斑点。
含量测定
照气相色谱法（通则0521）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 以5%苯基甲基聚硅氧烷为固定相的毛细管柱（柱长为30m，内径为0.25mm，膜厚度为0.25μm）；柱温为程序升温：初始温度180℃，保持10分钟，以每分钟5℃的速率升温至230℃，保持3分钟；检测器温度为280℃，进样口温度为280℃；分流进样，分流比为10∶1。理论板数按百秋李醇峰计算应不低于50000。 对照品溶液的制备 取百秋李醇对照品适量，精密称定，加正己烷制成每1ml含6mg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取本品0.1g，精密称定，置10ml量瓶中，用正己烷溶解并稀释至刻度，摇匀，作为供试品溶液。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各1μl，注入气相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品含百秋李醇（C15H26O）不得少于26%。
