本品形如药材，微鼓起，质脆，断面淡黄色或黄色，富油性。气微香，味苦。

炮制
茺蔚子 除去杂质，洗净，干燥。 炒茺蔚子 取净茺蔚子，照清炒法（通则0213）炒至有爆声，表面微鼓起，颜色加深时，取出，放凉。
贮藏
置通风干燥处。
鉴别
（1）本品粉末黄棕色至深棕色。外果皮细胞横断面观略径向延长，长度不一，形成多数隆起的脊，脊中央为黄色网纹细胞，壁非木化；表面观类多角形，有条状角质纹理，网纹细胞具条状增厚壁。内果皮厚壁细胞断面观略切向延长，内壁极厚，外壁薄，胞腔偏靠外侧，内含草酸钙方晶；表面观呈星状或细胞界限不明显，方晶明显。中果皮细胞表面观类多角形，壁薄，细波状弯曲。种皮表皮细胞类方形，壁稍厚，略波状弯曲，胞腔内含淡黄棕色物。内胚乳细胞含脂肪油滴和糊粉粒。 （2）取本品粉末3g，加乙醇30ml，加热回流1小时，放冷，滤过，滤液用正己烷振摇提取2次，每次90ml，分取下层溶液，蒸干，残渣加乙醇1ml使溶解，作为供试品溶液。另取盐酸水苏碱对照品，加乙醇制成每1ml含5mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取供试品溶液8～10μl，吸取对照品溶液2μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以乙酸乙酯-乙醇-甲酸（10：4：5）为展开剂，展开，取岀，晾干，喷以碘化铋钾试液-碘化钾碘试液-稀盐酸（1：1：1）的混合溶液。供试品色谱中，在与对照品色谱相应的位置上，显相同颜色的斑点。
浸出物
照醇溶性浸出物测定法（通则2201）项下的热浸法测定，用乙醇作溶剂，不得少于17.0%。
含量测定
照高效液相色谱法（通则0512）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 强阳离子交换（SCX）色谱柱；以15mmol/L磷酸二氢钾溶液（含0.06%三乙胺和0.14%磷酸）为流动相；检测波长为192nm。理论板数按盐酸水苏碱峰计算应不低于3000。 对照品溶液的制备 取盐酸水苏碱对照品适量，精密称定，加流动相制成每1ml含40μg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取本品粉末（过三号筛）约1g，精密称定，置具塞锥形瓶中，精密加入乙醇25ml，密塞，称定重量，加热回流1.5小时，放冷，再称定重量，用乙醇补足减失的重量，摇匀，滤过，精密量取续滤液5ml，加在中性氧化铝柱（100～200目，3g，内径为1cm，湿法装柱，用乙醇预洗）上，用乙醇100ml洗脱，收集洗脱液，回收溶剂至干，残渣加流动相溶解，转移至5ml量瓶中，并稀释到刻度，摇匀，滤过，取续滤液，即得。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各10μl，注入液相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品按干燥品计算，含盐酸水苏碱（C7H13NO2•HCl）不得少于0.050%。 饮片
