Review Question
Is Chinese herbal medicine astragalus (Huangqi) effective for the treatment of IgA nephropathy?
Study Type Included
Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included. Observational, cohort, case-control, case series, qualitative and laboratory studies, and uncontrolled trials will be excluded.
Condition Being Studied
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most frequent primary glomerulonephritis worldwide.
Participant
Inclusion: The patients(age over 12 year-old) with primary IgA nephropathy diagnosed by renal biopsy. There was no restriction on gender, and ethnicity. Exclusion: Other serious illnesses or complications; kidney transplant recipients and other types of kidney disease patients.

Intervention
Chinese herbal medicine astragalus was used in the interventions. Any form of astragalus (Huang qi) preparation, including water decoction, extracts, granules or injection will be included.
Comparator Control
Placebo, conventional therapy
Main Outcome
1.All-cause mortality; 2.Progression to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD); 3.Kidney function (glomerular filtration rate or serum creatinine concentration or creatinine clearance); 4.Albuminuria ; 5.Proteinuria Measures of effect At the end of treatment and the last follow-up
