本品为不规则条状或碎末。表面土红色、深红色或红褐色，无光泽，质硬而脆，易打碎。吸水性强。略具醋气，味淡，嚼之无沙粒感。
注意
不宜与肉桂同用。
炮制
赤石脂 除去杂质，打碎或研细粉。
贮藏
置干燥处，防潮。
功能与主治
涩肠，止血，生肌敛疮。用于久泻久痢，大便出血，崩漏带下；外治疮疡久溃不敛，湿疮脓水浸淫。
性味与归经
甘、酸、涩，温。归大肠、胃经。
用法与用量
9～12g，先煎。外用适量，研末敷患处。
