本品为半流动性的浓稠液体。棕黄色或暗棕色，半透明。质黏稠。气芳香。 本品在90%乙醇、二硫化碳、三氯甲烷或冰醋酸中溶解，在乙醚中微溶。

密闭，置阴凉干燥处。
鉴别
取肉桂酸肉桂酯对照品，加无水乙醇制成每1ml含3mg的溶液，作为对照品溶液。照薄层色谱法（通则0502）试验，吸取〔特征图谱〕项下供试品溶液、对照药材参照物溶液及上述对照品溶液各5μl，分别点于同一硅胶G薄层板上，以石油醚（30～60℃）-正己烷-甲酸乙酯-甲酸（10∶30∶15∶1）为展开剂，展开，取出，晾干，喷以10%硫酸乙醇溶液，在105℃加热至斑点显色清晰。分别置日光和紫外光灯（365nm）下检视。供试品色谱中，在与对照药材色谱和对照品色谱相应的位置上，日光下显相同颜色的斑点；紫外光下显相同颜色的荧光斑点。
含量测定
总肉桂酸 照高效液相色谱法（通则0512）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 以十八烷基硅烷键合硅胶为填充剂；以甲醇-1%冰醋酸溶液（50∶50）为流动相；检测波长为285nm。理论板数按肉桂酸峰计算应不低于7000。 对照品溶液的制备 取肉桂酸对照品适量，精密称定，加甲醇制成每1ml含25μg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取本品约0.5g，精密称定，加新制的乙醇制氢氧化钾试液10ml，加热回流1小时，低温迅速蒸去乙醇，残渣加热水20ml使均匀分散，放冷，加水30ml与硫酸镁溶液（1.5→50）20ml，混匀，静置10分钟，滤过，滤渣用水20ml分次洗涤，合并滤液和洗液，加盐酸使成酸性后，用乙醚振摇提取4次，每次40ml，合并乙醚液，回收溶剂至干。残渣用甲醇溶解，转移至100ml量瓶中，并稀释至刻度，摇匀。精密量取1ml，置50ml量瓶中，加甲醇稀释至刻度，摇匀，滤过，取续滤液，即得。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各10μl，注入液相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品含总肉桂酸以肉桂酸（C9H8O2）计，不得少于23.0%。 肉桂酸-3-苯基丙酯 照气相色谱法（通则0521）测定。 色谱条件与系统适用性试验 以5%苯基甲基聚硅氧烷为固定相的毛细管柱（柱长为30m，内径为0.25mm，膜厚度为0.25μm）；柱温为程序升温：初始温度为70℃，以每分钟5℃的速率升温至125℃，保持10分钟，再以每分钟10℃的速率升温至270℃，再以每分钟20℃的速率升温至320℃，保持3分钟；进样口温度为300℃，检测器温度为350℃；分流进样，分流比10∶1至50∶1。理论板数按肉桂酸-3-苯基丙酯峰计算应不低于1000000。 对照品溶液的制备 取肉桂酸-3-苯基丙酯对照品适量，精密称定，加无水乙醇制成每1ml含1.5mg的溶液，即得。 供试品溶液的制备 取本品约0.1g，精密称定，置具塞离心管中，精密加入无水乙醇10ml，振摇10分钟使溶解，滤过，取续滤液，即得。 测定法 分别精密吸取对照品溶液与供试品溶液各1μl，注入气相色谱仪，测定，即得。 本品含肉桂酸-3-苯基丙酯（C18H18O2）不得少于13.5%。
