性状
本品呈扁筒状，或呈条状、不规则块状，为丝状维管束交织而成。扁筒状者展开后横切面可见子房多为3室，呈空洞状。切面、内表面类白色、淡黄白色，外表面淡黄白色、黄白色，常略带浅棕黄色。体轻，质韧，有弹性，不能折断。气微，味淡。

除去残留种子和外皮，压扁，切段或块。
贮藏
置干燥处。
鉴别
本品粉末灰白色。木纤维单个散在或成束，细长，稍弯曲，末端斜尖，有分叉或呈短分枝，直径7～39μm，壁薄。螺纹导管和网纹导管直径8～28μm。
功能与主治
祛风，通络，活血，下乳。用于痹痛拘挛，胸胁胀痛，乳汁不通，乳痈肿痛。
性味与归经
甘，平。归肺、胃、肝经。
用法与用量
5～12g。
