- Studies, 1.Reporting sufficient data to determine pooled sensitivity and pooled specificity for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis. 2.Reporting data in English language. 3. conducted in age groups more than eighteen years. 4. Published as full text article.5. cross-sectional studies 6. observational studies 7.case-control studies etc .
- Condition Being Studied
- Tuberculous Meningitis is a serious infection of central nervous system by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis which if not diagnosed and treated in early stage will lead to prolong neurological disability or even death. CSF ADA is raised in tuberculous meningitis and its level can be detected easily and faster than the conventional examination of CSF for protein , sugar , cells with its physical appearance and culture where DNA PCR and Gene Xpert is not available. Early diagnosis may lead to deliver optimal treatment to such patients. CSF ADA could be assessed easily and readily at acute phase and has potential to discriminate tuberculous meningitis to non tuberculous meningitis. Few earlier meta-analysis has shown the acceptable diagnostic accuracy of CSF ADA in tuberculous meningitis. After the publication of the earlier meta-analysis several articles have been appeared in the literature and need to update the evidence by including the latest studies to generate more reliable evidence. Therefore, we aimed to conduct an updated meta-analysis to determine the diagnostic accuracy of CSF ADA for discriminating tuberculous meningitis from non tuberculous meningitis.
- Participant
- Studies in which patients clinically diagnosed meningitis with suspected tubercular etiology. The inclusion criteria for the studies will be 1.Reporting sufficient data to determine pooled sensitivity and pooled specificity for the diagnosis of tuberculous meningitis from non-tubercular meningitis. 2.Reporting data in English language. 3. conducted in age more than eighteen years. 4. Published as full text article. Exclusion criteria will be 1. Editorial, Case report, Conference proceeding, pre print, letter to editor
