- Lid retraction is one of the most common symptoms of Thyroid-Associated Ophthalmopathy (TAO) that may lead to many other complications such as dry eyes, exposure keratopathy, and cosmetic concerns. As a corticosteroid, local triamcinolone injection has been proposed as a choice of treatment for TAO. This strategy may be a favorable option for patients who cannot tolerate systemic effects of high dose methylprednisolone. However, its efficacy remains unestablished. Hence, our review aims to evaluate the efficacy of triamcinolone injection in reducing lid retraction.
