- Review Question
- As one of the antioxidants, can selenium intake have advantage or disadvantages in multiple health-related outcomes of people? Can these outcomes give sufficient evidence for routine therapeutic use of selenium to prevent some diseases?
- Study Type Included
- We will include primary RCT studies to assess the effects of selenium intake and will supplement these with observational studies (including cohort studies) for the assessment of outcomes.
- Condition Being Studied
- All health outcomes that involved the use of any types of selenium intake.
- Participant
- Inclusion criteria: meta-analyses that included the selenium intake and patients with all kinds of health-outcomes. Exclusion criteria: Systematic reviews without meta-analyses. The use of selenium in healthy people will be also excluded.

- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Inclusion criteria: Studies that involved the selenium intake. Exlusion: Studies that did not include selenium intake.
- Comparator Control
- Inclusion criteria: Meta-analyses that included control groups that took placebo or nothing will be included. Exclusion criteria: Meta-analyses that did not include control groups of placebo or nothing will be excluded.
- Main Outcome
- All kinds of cancer outcomes, non-cancer outcomes and changes of clinical index.
