Title
Efficacy and safety of different oral opioids in postoperative pain management after total knee and hip arthroplasty: a systemic review
Review Question
The purpose of this systematic review is to summarize the available knowledge about postoperative pain management by using peroral opioids after total knee and hip arthroplasty. The aim is to evaluate which opioid should be preferred in post-operative use by investigating postoperative pain scores, total opioid consumption, length of opioid treatment, adverse effects, and length of hospital stay.
Study Type Included
We will include RCTs, clinical trials, cohort studies, case-control studies and cross-sectional studies. We will include studies comparing opioids and describing opioid protocols. We will not include case studies and systematic reviews.
Condition Being Studied
Total knee and hip arthroplasties are common procedures for treating arthrosis. Patients usually experience moderate to severe pain after surgery and therefore opioids are commonly used after the procedure.
