- Title
- Calcium phosphate-based grafts combined with guided tissue regeneration in the treatment of periodontal tissue defects
- Review Question
- What are the benefits of calcium phosphate-based grafts with GTR (intervention) over OFD alone (control) and its effect on periodontal regenerative parameters (outcome) such as clinical attachment level (CAL) and probing pocket depth (PPD)
- Study Type Included
- RCTs
- Condition Being Studied
- Progressive periodontitis is a severe form of periodontal disease that can cause damage to the tissues and bones that support the teeth. If left untreated, it can lead to tooth loss due to the destruction of the attachment apparatus. The primary goals of periodontal therapy are to access the diseased areas, reduce pocket depth, stop the disease from getting worse, and restore lost periodontal tissue. The ultimate objective is to regenerate the periodontal and create a new attachment.
- Participant
- Chronic or aggressive periodontitis with no systemic diseases that contraindicated periodontal surgery
