Condition Being Studied
Inflammation is a complex reactions performed by the host in order to fight against tissue damage and initiate defense mechanisms and repair processes against infectious diseases. However, prolonged inflammation might cause some chronic diseases such as coronary vascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, and cancers. Since reactive oxygen species (ROS) or its reaction products mediate inflammatory injury, taking some antioxidants has been shown to prevent in vivo tissue injury during inflammation.
