Title
A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW ON THE ASSOCIATION OF HUMAN MILK FLAVONOIDS WITH ALLERGY PREVALANCES
Review Question
-How flavonoid level in breast milk affect inflammatory cytokines? -How flavonoid level in breast milk could prevent allergies? -What is the difference between human milk flavonoid and dietary flavonoid?
Study Type Included
The article used for the review must be in English Language, published between 2012-2023 and type of article must be research article.
Condition Being Studied
The study will provide useful and valuable information on the association of human milk flavonoids with allergy prevalence among infants and how it affects inflammatory cytokine.
Participant
Breastfeed mother Infants
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
The presence of flavonoids in human milk only has been determined by a few studies and has been done with respect to isoflavones, especially in soy milk.
Comparator Control
Flavonoid in human milk and flavonoid in dietary are being compared based on their bioavailability.
Main Outcome
i. Types and levels of flavonoids in breast milk. ii. Effects of flavonoids in breast milk on inflammatory cytokines. iii. Differences between dietary flavonoid and breast milk flavonoids. Measures of effect i. There are 6 different types of flavonoid in human milk such as isoflavonoid, flavanone, flavanol, flavonol, flavone, anthocyanidin. ii. Flavonoids such as luteolin, apigenin, and fisetin significantly reduced the production of IL-4 and IL-13 by peripheral blood basophils activated by an allergen or anti-IgE antibodies. iii.The bioavailability of flavonoids could be improved via the consumption of fat and increases their intestinal absorption through increased bile salts secretion which increases micellar incorporation of flavonoids. Meanwhile, flavonoid availability will decrease due to protein consumption, reducing antioxidant effectiveness and protein digestibility.
