- Which Evidence does exist about the impact and safety of the treatment with orally applied Ginkgo biloba leaf extract EGb 761® for a) clinical reasons, b) as prevention, or c) for health promotion?
- Study Type Included
- The overview will include any systematic reviews with or without meta-analysis that evaluate the efficacy and safety of the oral treatment with EGb 761® on any clinical condition or on healthy subjects.
- Condition Being Studied
- This overview will consider systematic reviews with or without meta-analyses describing oral EGb 761® intake for clinical reasons, as prevention, or for health promotion.
- Participant
- Inclusion: Adults (18 years and older) or children/adolescents (younger than 18 years) with various diseases or healthy, male and female, no matter of which origin. Exclusion: animal model.

- Oral treatment with Ginkgo biloba extract EGb 761® in various concentrations as therapie, prevention or for health promotion.
- Comparator Control
- Studies comparing EGb 761® with no specific intervention, placebo, waiting-list, conventional care, standard treatment, or other Ginkgo preparations.
- Main Outcome
- Reviews describing the effect of EGb 761® on the sick population will be considered, if the parameters disease severity or qulity of life (assessed via validated scales) are outcomes of the review. Furthermore, for the sick population, outcomes defined as primary outcomes will be considered. Primary parameters of reviews describing the treatment with EGb 761® for preventive or health promotive reasons will be considered, if primary parameters are defined as such. Otherwise patient-relevant outcomes, not laboratory parameters, will be considered.
