- Study Type Included
- Inclusion: Experimental studies, RCTs and Clinical case controls that report the effect of coconut oil and its principle bioactive on Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Exclusion: Case reports, editorials, short communication, reviews, meta-analysis and commentaries.
- Condition Being Studied
- Alzheimer's disease which is a neurological disorder characterized by dementia
- Participant
- Elderly patients (above 60 years of age) who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and dementia
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Coconut oil and its principle bioactive will be the intervention included and interventions other than this will be excluded.
- Comparator Control
- Unexposed group / group that did not receive the intervention of interest will be control/comparator.
- Main Outcome
- Changes in cognitive scores measured through Mini-Examen Cognitivo (MEC), Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE), Clock Drawing Test (CDT) or Seven Minutes Screen. Measures of effect mean difference
