Title
Effects of Allium cepa (onion) and its extract on the outcomes of an immune biomarker in nonhuman mammalian animal species study: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
What are the effects of Allium cepa (onion) or Allium cepa (onion) extract on the outcomes of an immune biomarker in nonhuman mammalian animal species studies? Context and rationale We want to find out the effects of Allium cepa (onion) or Allium cepa (onion) extract on the outcomes of an immune biomarker in nonmammalian models or in vitro & nonhuman mammalian animal species studies.
Study Type Included
Inclusion criteria: Controlled studies with a separate control group. Exclusion criteria: Case studies, Cross-over studies, Studies without a separate control group.
Condition Being Studied
Participant
Animal
Inclusion criteria: Animal (any life stage including preconception, in utero, lactation, peripubertal, and adult stages). Nonhuman mammalian animal species (whole organism). Exclusion criteria: Human study.
Human Disease Modelled
Immune biomarker.
Intervention
Inclusion criteria: Interventions are to an Allium cepa (onion) or Allium cepa (onion) extract. Oral including quantified intake to an onion extract of the administered dose, dietary level, or concentration. Exclusion criteria: The study population is not interventions to an Allium cepa (onion) or Allium cepa (onion) extract. Interventions are to a mixture only. Cannot separate effect of onion from other interventions.
Comparator Control
Inclusion criteria: Control animals. Exclusion criteria: All other control conditions.
Main Outcome
Outcome Measure
Inclusion criteria: Outcomes of an immune biomarker of Allium cepa (onion) or Allium cepa (onion) extract. Exclusion criteria: Outcomes of inflammation.
