Title
A Meta-analysis of wheat moxibustion in the treatment of spastic paralysis after stroke
Review Question
As one of the characteristic therapies of traditional Chinese medicine, wheat moxibustion has the advantages of simplicity, convenience and cheapness. There is still a lack of high-quality clinical studies in the treatment of spastic paralysis after stroke, and the efficacy is not clear, so it is necessary to summarize the existing clinical studies to provide more favorable evidence-based medical evidence for the clinical application of moxibustion。The subjects of the study were patients with spastic paralysis after stroke. The control group was other treatments with non-wheat moxibustion. The observation group was treated with wheat moxibustion on the basis of the control group. The study type was randomized controlled, and the outcome measures included Barthel index, clinical spasticity index, and effective rate.
Study Type Included
Randomized controlled trials
Condition Being Studied
Spastic paralysis is one of the most serious sequelae after stroke. Spasm is mainly the result of the excessive stretch reflex caused by the increased excitability of the anterior horn cells of the spinal cord, which is characterized by an increase in the speed dependence of the tendon stretch reflex, accompanied by the aggravation of tendon spasm, which has a great impact on the patient's life. Finding effective treatments to relieve limb spasm after stroke is one of the key directions of the current medical community.
