- Obesity is defined as the accumulation of body fat resulting from an energy imbalance, which is mainly caused by excessive caloric intake or lack of physical activity. Excess body fat is a known risk factor for metabolic disorders, including dyslipidemia and type 2 diabetes. In addition to environmental factors, obesity and its associated diseases may be related to endocrine factors, such as insulin and adipokines, which are related to endogenous mechanisms of energy homeostasis (1).

- 1) designed as RCTs (either parallel or crossover), 2) examined the effects of garcinia cambogia in humans (either healthy or unhealthy subjects), 3) investigated leptin for both treatment and control groups at baseline and at the end of the study, 4) involved adult individuals (aged ≥ 18 years), and 5) provided means and standard deviations (SDs) of desired outcomes or any other effect sizes being convertible to means and SDs.
