- Stomatitis or oral mucositis is known as a general and painful complication of several diseases and their treatments. This is an injury that involves oral soft tissues, especially non-keratinized ones. Mucositis can trigger a chain of risky events: pain, poor oral intake, weight loss, treatment interruptions and, ultimately, increased cure rates. Aloe vera has been widely used to treat various situations. Promising results have been reported by scientists regarding the preventive effects of aloe vera mouthwash against mucositis. However, there is little clinical evidence of the effectiveness of using aloe vera as a medicinal material so far.
