- Title
- Uncaria tomentosa extract decreases inflammation: a systematic review
- Review Question
- Which inflammatory diseases can be treated by Uncaria tomentosa extracts and which inflammatory mediators are involved? Context and rationale The review will provide relevant information about the functioning and mechanism of action of Uncaria tomentosa extract in inflammatory models, providing conditions for research on herbal medicines to be used in pathological conditions. Inflammation is a critical, physiologic response to potential danger signals and damages in organs of the body. However, in inflammatory diseases, an exaggerated immune response further damages organs and tissues. These painful and, in some cases, progressively debilitating conditions can take a toll on people’s quality of life and create both societal and economic burdens.
