What is the impact on the health outcomes of patients who consume Yerba Maté?
Study Type Included
(1) were a randomized clinical trials (RCTs), (2) studied the effects of Yerba Maté consumption, (3) reported all the adverse events (AEs) during the treatment, (4) studied on all adults, (5) showed the results of the outcomes at the baseline and at the end of the trial, (5) written in English.
Condition Being Studied
dyslipidemia, T2DM/pre-diabetes, IFG or IGT (pre-diabetes status), at most one criteria of metabolic syndrome, obese. consumption of Yerba Maté as a possible lipid-lowering/ glucose-reducing/anti-obesity compound?

Any kind of Yerba Maté consumption (tea, extract, active tablets or capsule)
Comparator Control
placebo, water, dietary intervention
Main Outcome
The primary outcomes of interest were lipid levels (total cholesterol, C-LDL, C-HDL and triglycerides) and glycemic levels (fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c and postprandial glucose).
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
The secondary outcomes included waist circumference, BMI and adverse events.
