- Title
- Efficacy of 5 different traditional Chinese medicine injection comparing Ribavirin in acute upper respiratory infection in children:A network meta analysis and systematic review.
- Review Question
- Acute upper respiratory infection in children (AURI) is an upper respiratory tract infection caused by a variety of pathogens, and is one of the most common diseases in children. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injections are widely used in clinical practice. Their efficacy is unclear due to the lack of clear evidence. In this study, network meta-analysis (NMA) was used to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM injections in the treatment of AURI, and to provide a reference for clinical treatment.

- Condition Being Studied
- Acute upper respiratory infection in children (AURI) is a common respiratory disease in pediatric clinics, mainly characterized by rapid progression and severe fever. Because of the young age and immaturity of children, they are susceptible to viral and bacterial infections, and if the disease is not controlled in time, it is easy to develop into inflammatory lesions in neighboring organs and lymph nodes, and in severe cases, lung inflammation may occur further.Due to the unclear symptoms of children's complaints, rapid progression of the disease, and high complication rates, failure to diagnose early and provide symptomatic treatment may cause delays, which may adversely affect children's physical and mental health .The cause of AURI is mostly due to the invasion of nasopharynx by influenza virus, adenovirus and other viruses, and the clinical symptoms include headache, fever, sore throat, and runny nose, etc.. Due to differences in individual immunity, the disease varies in severity, and although it is a self-limiting disease with a good prognosis, it may cause complications and affect health if not treated in time.Western medicine treatment of this disease is based on antipyretic drugs and antibiotics, and Ribavirin is often used in clinical treatment, but the effect is poor.
