Title
Systematic evaluation and trail sequential analysis of efficacy and safety of Hedan Tablet in the treatment of diabetic dyslipidaemia
Review Question
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Hedan Tablet in the treatment of diabetic dyslipidaemia, looking for alternative or complementary therapies. It provides a new idea for the drug treatment of diabetic dyslipidaemia
Study Type Included
randomized controlled trials
Condition Being Studied
Cardiovascular disease is a major cause ofmorbidity and mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, with a two- to fourfold increase in cardiovascular disease risk compared with non-diabetic individuals. Abnormalities in lipid metabolism that are observed in the context oftype 2 diabetes are among the major factors contributing to an increased cardiovascular risk. Diabetic dyslipidaemia includes not only quantitative lipoprotein abnormalities, but also qualitative and kinetic abnormalities that, together, result in a shift towards a more atherogenic lipid profile. The primary quantitative lipoprotein abnormalities are increased triacylglycerol (triglyceride) levels and decreased HDL-cholesterol levels.Qualitative lipoprotein abnormalities include an increase in large, very low-density lipoprotein subfraction 1 (VLDL1)and small, dense LDLs, as well as increased triacylglycerol content of LDL and HDL, glycation of apolipoproteins and increased susceptibility ofLDL to oxidation. The main kinetic abnormalities are increased VLDL1 production, decreased VLDL catabolism and increased HDL catabolism. In addition, even though LDL-cholesterol levels are typically normal in patients with type 2 diabetes, LDL particles show reduced turnover, which is potentially atherogenic.
Participant
Studies eligible should meet the following criteria; (a) subject was diagnosed with diabetic dyslipidaemia, (b) the experimental group was treated with Hedan Tablets or Hedan Tablets combined with lipid lowing drugs, and the control group was treated with lipid lowing drugs, (c) by reference to guidelines or assessment criteria, TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, Total response rate as primary outcome, (d) In addition to TC, at least one other result was reported. The exclusion criteria were: (a) non-randomized controlled trials or only one outcome, (b) the experimental group was treated with Hedan Tablets combined with other traditional Chinese medicines, (c) intervention with patients' diet during the experiment, (d) control group using drugs other than lipid lowing drugs.
