- Title
- Clinical efficacy evaluation and potential mechanism prediction on Danggui-Niantong decoction in the treatment of gouty arthritis based on meta-analysis, network pharmacology analysis, and molecular docking
- Review Question
- How does Danggui0Niantong Decoction impact on gout arthritis compared to western medicine such as febuxostat, allopurinol, and colchicine? How does Danggui0Niantong Decoction plus other therapy impact on gout arthritis compared to other therapy alone?
- Study Type Included
- Only clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included. Animal experimental studies, case reports, conference articles, expert experience, and reviews will be excluded.
- Condition Being Studied
- Gouty arthritis, the most common form of inflammatory arthritis worldwide, is an inflammatory disease caused by the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in joints and other connective tissues. It generally manifests as recurrent severe pain, active inflammation symptoms, swollen joints, and dysfunction of the affected joints. The prevalence of gouty arthritis, with the improvement of living standards and the change of dietary structure and habits, increases worldwide reaching 0.9% of French adults, 1.4% of British and German adults, 3.9% of American adults, and 9.7% of Australian adults. In China, the prevalence of GA has reached 1.1%.
- Participant
- Patients who are diagnosed with GA will be included, without limits on gender, country, or disease stage. The diagnostic criteria for GA should meet the criteria of ACR or EULAR.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- The intervention group received Danggui-Niantong Decoction alone or Baihu-Guizhi Decoction combines with oral western medicine treatment, such as febuxostat, allopurinol, and colchicine. Intervention groups with any other type of traditional Chinese medicine treatment will be excluded, such as external application of herb, acupuncture, and moxibustion.
- Comparator Control
- The control group received oral western medicine treatment, such as febuxostat, allopurinol, and colchicine.
- Main Outcome
- The primary outcomes include the serum uric acid (SUA), C-reactive protein (CRP), visual analogue scale (VAS), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin- 8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Measures of effect For continuous data, the results will be presented as standardized mean differences with 95% CIs. For dichotomous outcomes, data will be expressed as risk ratios with 95% CIs.
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- The secondary outcomes include the total effective rate and adverse events (AEs). Measures of effect For continuous data, the results will be presented as standardized mean differences with 95% CIs. For dichotomous outcomes, data will be expressed as risk ratios with 95% CIs.
