Shensong Yangxin Capsule and Conventional Medicine Combination for Cerebral-cardiac syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
Shensong Yangxin (SSYX) capsule is widely used in clinic and is an important drug in the guidelines for rational drug use of arrhythmia in China. Evaluating the effectiveness and safety of combining these two medications for treating cerebral-cardiac syndrome is essential.
Study Type Included
The studies which were included must be clinical randomized controlled studies (RCTs) with a total sample size of more than 60.Non-randomised clinical studies (NRS), observational studies, and case studies were excluded.
Condition Being Studied
Shensong Yangxin Capsule is widely used in clinic and is an important drug in the guidelines for rational drug use of arrhythmia in China (Zhang et al. 2014). The cerebral-cardiac syndrome is divided into two types according to the timing of heart and brain onset, One type is the heart injury occurs after the cranial lesion, and the other type is the heart injury and cranial lesion occur almost simultaneously (Hu Y and Zhang X.2019). In 1947, BYER E reported the world's first case of secondary ST-T changes in the ECG after acute stroke (BYER E et al. 1947). Until now,the incidence of cerebral-cardiac syndrome ranges from 62% to 90% (Huang SJ and Bai X. 2014), with an acute onset and high risk of multi-organ and multi-system failure and there is no effective treatment option. Shensong Yangxin (SSYX) capsule is widely used in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. This study was based on the clinical randomized controlled trials of SSYX combined with conventional medical therapy for the treatment of cerebral-cardiac syndrome,and used evidence-based medicine methods to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of this drug.
Participant
The study will consider participants had been diagnosed as cerebral-cardiac syndrome, and no restrictions on their gender, severity and disease duration.

Intervention
The experimental group was used Shensong Yangxin Capsule, or combined with conventional western medicine to treat Cerebral-cardiac syndrome, all treatment plans should account for the dosage and the duration of drug use.
Comparator Control
The control measure should be defined as placebo or other conventional western medicine, with clear reporting of the method of medication, dosage and course of treatment.
Main Outcome
The Main outcome indicators should involve clinical response rate, incidence of adverse reactions, the changes of electrocardiogram (ECG), and the levels of norepinephrine (NE). Measures of effect Odds ratios (OR) were used for binary variables, while mean differences (MD) were employed for continuous variables, with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) for each effect size during the evaluation process.

The Main outcome indicators should involve epinephrine (E), dopamine (DA), Malondialdehyde (MDA) and Superoxide Dismutase (SOD). Measures of effect Odds ratios (OR) were used for binary variables, while mean differences (MD) were employed for continuous variables, with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) for each effect size during the evaluation process.
