Title
The efficacy of luteal estradiol pretreatment prior to the GnRH antagonist protocol in normal responders, a systemic review and meta-analysis.
Review Question
Does luteal estrodiol pretreatment prior to GnRH antagonist protocol improve efficacy of controlled ovarian stimulation?
Study Type Included
randomized controlled trials, retrospective studies, clinical trials
Condition Being Studied
GnRH antagonist protocol had gaining popularity recently, however, its numbers of oocyte retrieved was not as good as GnRH agonist protocol in some of the studies. Our study aimed to answer the question of luteal estradiol pretreatment prior to GnRH antagonist protocol could improve the numbers of oocyte retrieved.
Participant
Participants who received controlled ovarian stimulation by GnRH antagonist protocol and luteal estradiol pretreatment were regarded as intervention group, while participants who did not receive luteal estradiol were control.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
To give estradiol 10mg/d for ten days from mid luteal phase until the next cycle day 1 for controlled ovarian stimulation by GnRH-antagonist protocol.
Comparator Control
Controlled ovarian stimulation by GnRH-antagonist/GnRH-agonist protocol without luteal estradiol pretreatment
Main Outcome
The numbers of oocyte retrieved, days of stimulation, total doses of gonadotropins of LE versus control was treated as the primary outcome. Measures of effect The standardized difference in means (SDMs) of numbers of oocyte retrieved, days of stimulation, total doses of gonadotropins of LE versus control was treated as the primary outcome
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
The clinical pregnancy and live birth rate of LE versus control comprised the secondary outcome. Measures of effect The odds ratios (ORs) of clinical pregnancy and live birth rate of LE versus control comprised the secondary outcome.
Study Method
Intervention, Meta-analysis, Systematic review
