Title
Xiao-ai-ping injection adjunct with platinum-based chemotherapy for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
It is uncertain whether there is robust evidence on the efficacy and safety of Xiao-ai-ping injection as adjuvant therapy to platinum-based chemotherapy. Thus, we conducted a comprehensive systematic review on the efficacy and safety of Xiao-ai-ping injection as an adjunctive therapy for advanced Non-small-cell-lung-cancer.
Study Type Included
Only clinical randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were eligible
Condition Being Studied
Lung cancer is a health burden in recent years, and it remains one of the leading causes of cancer related death worldwide, with approximately 1.8 million new lung cancer cases and 1.6 million deaths per year
Participant
The diagnosis of NSCLC had been verified by cytology or tissue biopsy. Furthermore, the patients had pathologically documented NSCLC of stage III or IV, according to the tumor-node-metastasis (TNM)-based staging of lung cancer.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
The patients received platinum-based chemotherapy with Xiao-ai-ping injection.
Comparator Control
The patients received platinum-based chemotherapy without Xiao-ai-ping injection.
Main Outcome
Objective tumor response (ORR), Quality of life, Measures of effect Objective tumor response measure is defined adding complete response (CR) and partial response (PR). Quality of life is reflected by KPS (KPS was considered as an indication for the quality of life in NSCLC patients after treatment . A 10-point change of KPS was regarded as improvement or deterioration of quality of life)
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Reduction in grade 3/4 myelosuppression, Reduction in grade 3/4 nausea and vomiting, Dysregulated liver and kidney function, diarrhea, constipation and fatigue, Immune function. Measures of effect reduction in grade 3/4 myelosuppression and, nausea and vomiting, other adverse side events including, dysregulated liver and kidney function, diarrhea, constipation and fatigue, and immune function including, the percentage of CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+, were regarded as secondary outcomes.
Study Method
