- Efficacy and safety analysis of combined Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of postpartum depression: systematic review and meta-analysis
- Review Question
- The research object of this meta-analysis was patients with postpartum depression. The intervention measures were combined with Traditional Chinese medicine, and the comparison group was treated with simplex drugs. The main outcome measures were total response rate and adverse reactions, and the secondary outcome measures were Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD), Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS), sex hormone levels (progesterone and estradiol) and brain neurotransmitters (5-hydroxytryptophan, dopamine, norepinephrine). Published and unpublished randomized controlled trials were eligible for inclusion, excluding non-randomized studies.
- Study Type Included
- Randomized controlled trial.Eligible participants were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group was treated with Chinese and Western medicine, while the control group was treated with simplex drugs. The methods of experiment and control group were given in detail.
- Condition Being Studied
- According to a 2017 global report by the World Health Organization, about 10 percent of pregnant women and 13 percent of new mothers suffer from a mental illness, with depression being the most common symptom. According to statistics, the incidence of postpartum depression around the world is about 17%, and in China, the incidence of postpartum depression is about 25%, so it is urgent to find an effective and safe treatment.Postpartum depression refers to the obvious depressive symptoms or typical depressive episodes of women during the puerperium, which is part of the puerperium mental syndrome along with postpartum restlessness and postpartum psychosis.Its performance is the same as other depressive disorders, such as low mood, anhedonia, sad crying, worry, timidity, restlessness, irritability, serious loss of self-care and the ability to take care of the baby, pessimism and despair, suicide by self-injury.Postpartum depression is often diagnosed by the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS), The Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and other evaluation methods, which can also be further confirmed by testing relevant indicators in vivo.

- Inclusion criteria: 1. Age > 18; 2. Primipara; 3. The patient had the first onset and had no history of serious physical diseases; 4.Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD, 17 items) score ≥18Score, Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) score ≥14; 5.Obtain written informed consent of the subject and his/her family members or legal guardian or legal agent Exclusion criteria: ① Alcohol, substance abuse or dependence; ② Myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, heart failure, severe cirrhosis, renal failure, severe diabetes, aplastic anemia, Angle closure glaucoma, and other serious physical diseases, brain organic diseases or diseases that may interfere with the evaluation of the test; ③ Have a history of epilepsy or convulsion; ④ Have participated in the clinical experiment of other drugs in the last 1 month.

- Combination of chinese traditional and western medicine.Shugan Jieyu Capsule, Xiaoyao Pill and other proprietary Chinese medicine and the treatment of depression related Chinese medicine compound combined with fluoxetine, paroxetine, citalopram, sertraline, mirtazapine, amitriptyline and other treatment experimental group.
