- Study Type Included
- Randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Shensong yangxin Capsule combined with metoprolol in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia were included.
- Condition Being Studied
- Arrhythmia is one of a typical clinical cardiovascular diseases, which refers to the abnormal excitation of the sinus node or excitation generated outside the sinus node, resulting in abnormal heart beat frequency or rhythm due to slow conduction, block or abnormal channel conduction. According to the difference of heart rate when arrhythmia occurs, it is divided into tachyarrhythmia and slow arrhythmia. When arrhythmia occurs, patients may experience panic, palpitation, chest tightness, dizziness, weakness, sweating, dyspnea and other symptoms. Some patients may experience severe anxiety, insomnia and other discomforts, which will affect their daily life and work. Arrhythmia is also an important cause of sudden cardiac death. According to the epidemiological survey of sudden cardiac death in China, more than 80% of sudden cardiac deaths resulted from malignant arrhythmia each year. Ventricular arrhythmia is a very common type of arrhythmia, including ventricular premature contractions, ventricular tachycardia, ventricular flutter, and ventricular fibrillation. It occurs mostly in patients with structural heart disease and ion channel disease. However, it is also common in people with normal heart structure.
- Participant
- 1) Type of study: Randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Shensong yangxin Capsule combined with metoprolol in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia were included. 2) Study patients: Patients diagnosed arrhythmia by electrocardiogram or dynamic electrocardiogram with no other serious organ disease. And there were no restrictions on age or sex. 3) Intervention: On the basis of conventional symptomatic treatment, patients in the treatment group received Shensongyangxin Capsule combined with metoprolol, and patients in the control group were treated with metoprolol alone. 4) Types of outcome measures: the total effective rate of ECG efficacy, the total effective rate of clinical efficacy on the symptoms, the decreased number of premature ventricular contractions, the incidence of adverse reactions; and at least one of the the total effective rate of ECG efficacy or clinical efficacy on the symptoms was included.

- Intervention: On the basis of conventional symptomatic treatment, patients in the treatment group received Shensongyangxin Capsule combined with metoprolol
- Comparator Control
- patients in the control group were treated with metoprolol alone.
- Main Outcome
- Significant effect: 24-h dynamic electrocardiogram showed no arrhythmia or the frequency of arrhythmia decreased by more than 90% compared with before treatment. Effective: 24-h dynamic electrocardiogram showed that the frequency of arrhythmia was reduced by 50% to 90% compared with that before treatment. Invalid: 24-h dynamic electrocardiogram showed that the frequency of arrhythmia decreased by <50% compared with that before treatment.
