- Randomised double-blind placebo-controlled studies will be included.
- Condition Being Studied
- Acute upper respiratory infections.
- Participant
- Adults or children with upper respiratory tract infections or participants in trials assessing the prophylactic efficacy of echinacea. Trials with patient populations which are not otherwise healthy will be excluded, for example, studies assessing the efficacy of echinacea in asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.

- <b>Incidence rates</b>: The number of patients developing at least one symptomatic upper respiratory tract infection according to the study report. <b>Duration</b>: The duration of clinical symptoms caused by the upper respiratory tract infection, from onset to resolution according to the study report. <b>Safety</b>: The number and type of adverse events recorded.
