Azadirachta Indica (Neem) a potential alternative for the treatment of acne: A systematic review and Meta analysis of Randomized controlled trial
Review Question
In Adolescents (>= 12 years), adults (>= 18 years), male and female with acne or are suseptible to acne what is the effect of Azadirachta Indica/Neem (either from leave, fruits, bark or other parts), topical or oral formulation, with other pharmaceutical active or herbal constituents applied or ingested in humans. When compared with different composition or formulation of Neem, placebo, and other active treatment. Resulting in improvement or no new appearence of inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions, comedones, papules, pustules, erythema, nodules, and itching, skin hydration, and reduction in sebum concentration (Primary outcome) or any adverse event (Secondary outcome). This will include published data from clinical trial (including adaptive clinical trial, RCT, phase trial, controlled clinical trial), from 1 st January 2012 to 1st January 2022 (10 years).
Study Type Included
Inclusion: Only studies reporting randomized control trials will be included in the study. Exclusion: Non-RCT, Pre clinical trials, case report, case series, SRMA, note, letter to editor, observational study
Condition Being Studied
As one of the most prevalent dermatological conditions, which affects teenagers and young adults, is a long-term inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous unit. Although acne is often a self-limiting problem, in its most extreme form, it can leave scars and discoloration within the skin. This may influence quaility of life, and may lead to mental disorder in people affected with the condition. Although many therapies are available for its treatment, ranging from antibiotics, hormonal therapy, corticosteroids, but this leads to adverse events and can be toxic.

Inclusion: Adolescents (>= 12 years), adults (>= 18 years), male and female with acne or suseptible to acne. Exclusion: Animal study, In-vitro study,

Intervention
Inclusion: Extract or active constituents of Azadirachta Indica/Neem (either from leave, fruits, bark or other parts), topical or oral formulation, with other pharmaceutical active or herbal constituents applied or ingested in humans. Exclusion: Formulation/s not containing neem extract or active constituents
Comparator Control
Inclusion: Different composition or formulation of Neem, placebo, and other active treatment.
Main Outcome
Improvement or no new appearence of inflammatory and non-inflammatory acne lesions, comedones, papules, pustules, erythema, nodules, and itching, skin hydration, and reduction in sebum concentration. This will be measured as mean change from baseline to endline, with either SD or 95% CI. Measures of effect Odds ratios
