- Title
- Traditional Tibetan Patent medicines orally for ischemic stroke : a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
- Review Question
- Tibetan medicine theory has unique advantages in the treatment of stroke with the features of multi-component, multi-link, multi-target. We aim to explore the efficacy and safety of orally Tibetan patent medicines for treating the ischemic stroke according to current randomized controlled trials.
- Study Type Included
- The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) randomized controlled trials; (2) definitively diagnosed with ischemic stroke ; (3) the treatment group was treated with oral Tibetan patent medicines singly or in conjunction with the conventional therapy or with positive drugs, while the control group was treated with conventional therapy (including antiplatelet therapy, controlling blood pressure, blood glucose, etc) or positive drugs. The exclusion criteria were as follows: a) animal studies, reviews, conference presentations or unpublished reports; b)observational studies, cohort studies, case-control studies or case series ; c) no control group; d) the interventions contained external Tibetan medicines; e) not describe the outcome indexs required; f)the results' data reported were deficient or unable to obtain original data; g) the duplicate articles.
- Condition Being Studied
- Tibetan patent medicines orally in the treatment of ischemic stroke;Randomized controlled trials with two or more parallel groups.
- Participant
- Subjects who meet the clinical diagnostic criteria for ischemic stroke are not restricted by age, gender, race, duration of the illness.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Oral Tibetan patent medicines singly or in conjunction with the conventional therapy or with Positive drugs
- Comparator Control
- Placebo or the conventional therapy or Positive drugs
- Main Outcome
- Treatment effectiveness and safety of oral Tibetan patent medicines such as clinical efficacy rate and adverse events. Measures of effect Relative risks (RR) or risk difference(RD) was used to represent binary variables, and standardized mean difference (SMD) or mean difference (MD) was used to represent continuous variables.
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- Neurological impairment score, the activities of daily living,Hemorheology indexes(hematocrit, etc),etc. Measures of effect Relative risks (RR) or risk difference(RD) was used to represent binary variables, and standardized mean difference (SMD) or mean difference (MD) was used to represent continuous variables.
