- Title
- Efficacy and Safety of Erigeron breviscapus preparation in the Treatment of vascular dementia: Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
- Review Question
- In the elderly patients with vascular dementia, compared with the conventional treatment, whether Erigeron breviscapus preparation can accelerate the improvement of their clinical symptoms, and whether it has a good role in promoting the recovery of their cognitive function and self-care ability? P: Vascular dementia in the elderly 1: Intervention: Erigeron breviscapus preparation C: Control measures: routine treatment O: MMSE, ADL, HDS, WMS, CCSE, Moca, sdsvd, CDR, Hachinski and BDS were scored before and after treatment. Statistical methods were used to compare the curative effect before and after treatment and the curative effect of the intervention group and the control group after treatment.
- Study Type Included
- Inclusion criteria The subjects need to meet the diagnostic criteria of vascular dementia: < 1 > diagnostic indicators of Western medicine: DSM-III, DSM-IV, DSM-IV, dsm-iv-r, etc. < 2 > diagnostic indicators of traditional Chinese medicine: 1990-2005, Chinese society of Geriatrics, all China The standard of diagnosis, syndrome differentiation and therapeutic effect evaluation of Alzheimer's disease (discussion draft) formulated by the society of internal medicine, Chinese medicine society. Exclusion criteria: ① non-human trial; ② efficacy index: non cognitive, general impression or behavioral symptoms; ③ review, experience summary, theoretical discussion, case report and other types of research; ④ patients with vascular dementia may cause other diseases of dementia, as well as congenital cognitive impairment and other types of dementia; ⑤ patients with allergic history of test drug.
- Condition Being Studied
- Vascular dementia (VAD) refers to the severe cognitive dysfunction syndrome caused by cerebral vascular diseases such as ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke and hypoperfusion of brain areas such as memory, cognition and behavior. Vascular dementia is the second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer's disease (AD), with a prevalence of 1.26% - 2.4%, accounting for 12% - 20% of all the causes of dementia. The prevalence of VaD in China is 0.75% to 4.69%, and the annual incidence rate is 5 to 9/1000 . The main risk factors of vascular dementia are obesity, diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and metabolic syndrome . At present, the treatment of vascular dementia includes cholinesterase inhibitors (donepezil, galanthamine, kabaratin, etc.) and noncompetitive N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonists (memantine), in addition to the basic treatment of primary vascular diseases such as antiplatelet aggregation and lipid-lowering therapy. At the same time, traditional Chinese medicine (such as Erigeron breviscapus preparation, ginkgo preparation, etc.), acupuncture, physical therapy and other traditional Chinese medicine treatment methods have also achieved good results.
- Participant
- A randomized controlled trial (RCT) was conducted to treat vascular dementia with Erigeron breviscapus for more than 2 weeks.

- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- The dosage forms and doses of intervention and control measures are not limited. The intervention measures are breviscapine preparation or breviscapine preparation combined with western medicine or Chinese patent medicine and breviscapine preparation combined with conventional treatment.
- Comparator Control
- The dosage forms and doses of intervention and control measures are not limited. The control types are conventional treatment, western medicine treatment plus Chinese patent medicine treatment and Western medicine combined conventional treatment. The routine treatment was antiplatelet and hypolipidemic.
