- Title
- Efficacy and safety evaluation of Shengui capsule for chronic heart failure: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials
- Review Question
- The aim of this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Shengui capsule for coronary heart failure
- Study Type Included
- Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included.
- Condition Being Studied
- Heart failure is the most common cardiovascular reason for hospital admission for people older than 60 years of age, which characterized by dyspnea, fatigue, and signs of volume overload. Many conditions, such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, valvular heart disease, and diabetes mellitus, can cause or lead to decompensation of chronic heart failure. Especially, coronary artery disease is the most common cause of heart failure. Studies have shown that complementary and alternative therapy plays an advantage in improving symptoms and reducing side effects in patients with coronary heart failure (CHF). Shengui capsule is widely used in the treatment of CHF in China.
- Participant
- Adults with coronary heart failure (as diagnosed by a clinician, or using any recognized diagnostic criteria) will be included.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Shengui capsule is the main intervention.
- Comparator Control
- Usual care and medications such as diuretics, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), β-receptor blocker, aldosterone-receptor blocker, digoxin, etc.
- Main Outcome
- LVEF, adverse events
