- Is fennel effective for managing menopausal symptoms
- Study Type Included
- Prospective randomized controlled trials (RCTs) will be included. The quasi RCTs will be excluded.
- Condition Being Studied
- Menopausal symptoms including hot flashes, psychological health, insomnia and etc.
- Participant
- Menopausal women will be included. We will exclude the studies with breast cacner patients, patients with endometriousis or immuno-compromised or multiple medication takers.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Any types of fennel will be included such as pill, extract, supplement, oil with massage or inhale, capsules or in raw. Trials in which fennel formed part of a complex herbal medicine will be excluded. Trials combined fennel with conventional therapies will be included if the control group received the same conventional therapies.
- Comparator Control
- We will include the trials comparing fennel with placebo, conventional therapies or usual cares. Trials comparing fennel with other types of complementary therapies will be excluded.
- Main Outcome
- 1. Menopausal symptoms measured by Kupperman index or other questionairres for scoring menopausal symptoms 2. Response rate Measures of effect We will include the values of the last session of treatment

- 1. Quality of life 2. Adverse events Measures of effect We will include the values of the las session of treatment
