Title
The effect of Melissa Officinalis.L on depression, anxiety and sleep disorder: An evidence-based systematic review
Review Question
1. Does Melissa officinalis have a Therapeutic Effect on Depression? 2. Does Melissa officinalis have a Therapeutic Effect on Anxiety? 3. Does Melissa officinalis have a Therapeutic Effect on Insomnia?
Study Type Included
In this study, we will include all randomized controlled trials studies to assess the beneficial effects of Melissa officinalis, on depression, anxiety and sleep disorders.
Condition Being Studied
In all societies, there are a relatively large number of psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety. By 2030, depression is predicted to be the leading cause of disability and the highest burden of disease in the world. Studies show that one-fifth of adults in the past year have been involved in some form of psychiatric disorder or 29.2% of people have had one of the psychiatric disorders in their lifetime. Anxiety, sleep disorders and depressive illnesses are very common mental illnesses and can lead to disability especially in low- and middle-income regions of the world because 90% of children and adults live in low-income areas of the world. Since the side effects of chemical drugs in the treatment of psychiatric disorders are high and patients are not very satisfied with the results of conventional medications, the use of the herbal medicine as an alternative or in combination with current treatments to reduce the side effects and increase the effectiveness of the medicines is common. The growing popularity of medicinal herbs for physicians and the general public around the world is an important issue that needs to be addressed from different perspectives.
