- Review Question
- The aim of this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine injection for sepsis
- Study Type Included
- Including all Chinese and English literature, about 11 kinds of Chinese medicine injections or other Chinese medicine injections , which included in Consensus of Chinese Experts on Early Prevention and Blocking of Sepsis (2020), related RCTs for the treatment of sepsis. Non-randomized controlled trials, reviews, case reports, experimental studies, expert experience and duplicate publications will be excluded.
- Condition Being Studied
- Sepsis is a systemic inflammatory response caused by infection, which can lead to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and even life-threatening. In 2020, a multi-center ICU study in 44 hospitals in China showed that the incidence of ICU sepsis was 20.6%, the mortality rate was 35.5%, and the mortality rate of severe sepsis exceeded 50%. According to the latest diagnosis and treatment guidelines of the Expert Consensus on Early Prevention and Treatment of Sepsis in China (2020), which includes Chinese medicine items, it is recommended to use Chinese medicine injections as an adjuvant treatment for sepsis. The guidelines clearly recommend Qingkailing injection, Xingnaojing injection, Reduqing injection, Xuebijing injection, Fufang Danshen injection, Shenmai injection, Shengmai injection, and Shenfu injection as sepsis Effective drugs, including active ingredients of Renshen, Dahuang, and Danshen are used as injections to help improve the recovery and survival rate of patients.

- Individuals infected with sepsis (complying with the diagnosis of clinicians, or the diagnostic criteria of the International Guidelines for Sepsis and Septic Shock) will be included.

- According to the early prevention and sepsis prevention expert consensus 2020 guidelines included in the latest standard of 11 kinds of Chinese medicine injection (such as Qingkailing injection, Reduning injection, Xingnaojing injection, Xuebijing injection and Fudanshen injection, Shenmai injection, Shenmai injection, Shenfu injection, Renshen injection, Danshen injection and Dahuang injection)
- Comparator Control
- Conventional treatment refers to the use of fluid resuscitation, anti-infection, antibiotics, nutritional support, According to the condition of the conventional treatment plan such as mechanical ventilation
- Main Outcome
- The main outcomes include APACHE-II score (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation), SOFA score (Sequential Organ Failure Assessment), as well as case fatality rate and total effective rate evaluation Measures of effect RR and WMD
