Condition Being Studied
The etiology of UC is not yet clear, and the course of the disease is long and prone to recurrence.Currently, aminosalicylates, sulfasalazine and corticosteroids, immunosuppressants and monoclonal antibodies are commonly used in clinical treatment of UC.However, long-term or high-dose use of these drugs can cause serious adverse reactions to the body. For examples increased abdominal pain, kidney damage, liver toxicity, or blood disorders. In recent years, basic research and clinical research on the adjuvant treatment of UC with traditional Chinese medicine formulations have achieved remarkable curative effects. It can not only improve the clinical efficacy, repair the state of intestinal mucosa, but also improve the body's own immunity to achieve the effect of prevention and recurrence.
