Participant
The population recruited of any age from any region who suffered scorpion envenoming by Tityus.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Exposure: The exposure is scorpion envenoming from genus Tityus. Intervention: Pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies for treating the scorpion bite.
Comparator Control
Placebo, standard of care, scorpion antivenom or any other therapeutic.
Main Outcome
Clinical manifestations and management. In mild cases, there may be pain at the sting site and paresthesia; in moderate cases, the patient presents, in addition to these symptoms, vomiting and sweating. In severe cases, there may also be systemic complications, leading to pulmonary edema, heart failure and shock. In general, the treatment of scorpionism comprises symptomatic measures, support of vital functions and the use of anti-scorpion serum.
