Title
Vitamin B6 and lung cancer risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Review Question
Is there an association of vitamin B6 intake or blood levels of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (the active form of vitamin B6) with the risk of lung cancer?
Study Type Included
We will include randomised trials and the observational studies (including cohort and nested case-control as well as the case-control studies) for the assessment of the association between vitamin B6 intake or the blood levels of PLP and the risk of lung cancer.
Condition Being Studied
Lung cancer. Vitamin B6 intake.
Participant
Inclusion: Adults with lung cancer and exposed to vitamin B6. Exclusion: adolesents (under 18 years of age).
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Intake of vitamin B6 or blood (plasma or serum) levels of PLP.
Comparator Control
Controls are those with the less intake of vitamin B6 or lower level of PLP for the observational studies; For the interventional studies, cases who exposed to the placebo will be considered as controls.
Main Outcome
Lung cancer. Measures of effect The relative risk (RR) estimates with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) will be considered as the effect measures.
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
None.
Study Method
