- Title
- Therapeutic use of ferric maltol in patients with iron deficiency anaemia: a systematic review.
- Review Question
- Does Ferric maltol show good therapeutic outcome not only in iron deficiency anaemia as well as patients with existing complications like Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Chronic renal failure, renal insufficiency?
- Study Type Included
- Full research work RCTs
- Condition Being Studied
- Iron is an essential element for the production of blood. About 70 % of the body's iron is found in the RBCs of our blood called haemoglobin and in muscle cells called myoglobin. Anemia is a common extraintestinal manifestation of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and is frequently overlooked as a complication. Patients with IBD are commonly found to have iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) secondary to chronic blood loss, and impaired iron absorption due to tissue inflammation.
- Participant
- Inclusion: -iron deficiency patients treated with ferric maltol. -ferric maltol treated inpatient with iron deficiency anaemia and further complications. Exclusion: -anaemic patients non treated with ferric maltol as a major treatment. -iron-deficiency anaemic patients treated with multiple drugs.
