Title
The cardiovascular and kidney effects of uric acid lowering therapy in patients with hyperuricemia: a systematic review and bayesian network meta-analysis
Review Question
This study aims to compare the relative efficacy and risk of different uric acid-lowing therapy on cardiovascular in adult patients with hyperuricemia by means of systematic review and network meta-analysis within a Bayesian framework.
Study Type Included
RCT and cohort study
Condition Being Studied
Management of chronic kidney dieases and cardiovascular disease.
Participant
Adult participants were diagnosed as hyperuricemia. Data from subgroups of participants with CKD within studies with broader inclusion criteria were also included.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Uric acid-lowing agents which were administrated at any dose for more than 12 weeks.
Comparator Control
Standard care, placebo or no .
Main Outcome
If the data allow: 1. the occurrence of major cardiovascular events : cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, nonfatal stroke, heart failure requiring hospitalization, and unstable angina requiring urgent coronary revascularization. Measures of effect relative risks
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
If the data allow: 1. Change in serum uric acid level (mg/dl); 2. Remission of ischemic cardiomyopathy; 3. Kidney failure events are defined as: More than 25% or 50% decrease in the estimated GFR (eGFR)* Doubling of serum creatinine End stage renal disease (ESRD); 4..Rate of change in eGFR: the difference from baseline in eGFR divided by the number of years between creatinine measurements (ml/min/1.73m2 per year); 5. Major adverse events, including rash, arthralgia, gastrointestinal symptoms and other drug-related adverse events. Measures of effect relative risks
