Title
Evaluation of adjuvant VEGFR-targeted tyrosin-kinase-inhibitor therapy in patients with high risk renal cell carcinoma
Review Question
Does adjuvant VEGFR-targeted tyrosine-kinase-inhibitor therapy improve disease-free survival or overall survival in patients with high-risk localized renal cell carcinoma after complete surgical resection?
Study Type Included
Phase III randomized controlled trials
Condition Being Studied
High risk localized renal cell carcinoma after surgical resection of the primary tumor.
Participant
Adults undergoing surgery for a renal mass with histopathological evidence of a completely resected (R0) renal cell carcinoma at high risk for recurrence based on TNM stage and Fuhrman grade in the absence of radiological evidence of metastasis on thoracoabdominal imaging.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Adjuvant therapy with a VEGFR-targeted tyrosin-kinase-inhibitor (TKI) therapy with a minimum duration of 6 months.
Comparator Control
Control arm consists of placebo treatment.
Main Outcome
Disease free survival (DFS), Overall survival (OS) Measures of effect Time-to-event
Outcome Measure
Additional Outcome
Adverse events (CTCAE) Measures of effect Absolute percentage of overall incidence and incidence of grade III/IV adverse events.
Study Method
Intervention, Meta-analysis, Systematic review
