- Title
- Evaluation of adjuvant VEGFR-targeted tyrosin-kinase-inhibitor therapy in patients with high risk renal cell carcinoma
- Review Question
- Does adjuvant VEGFR-targeted tyrosine-kinase-inhibitor therapy improve disease-free survival or overall survival in patients with high-risk localized renal cell carcinoma after complete surgical resection?
- Study Type Included
- Phase III randomized controlled trials
- Condition Being Studied
- High risk localized renal cell carcinoma after surgical resection of the primary tumor.
- Participant
- Adults undergoing surgery for a renal mass with histopathological evidence of a completely resected (R0) renal cell carcinoma at high risk for recurrence based on TNM stage and Fuhrman grade in the absence of radiological evidence of metastasis on thoracoabdominal imaging.
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Adjuvant therapy with a VEGFR-targeted tyrosin-kinase-inhibitor (TKI) therapy with a minimum duration of 6 months.
- Comparator Control
- Control arm consists of placebo treatment.
- Main Outcome
- Disease free survival (DFS), Overall survival (OS) Measures of effect Time-to-event
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- Adverse events (CTCAE) Measures of effect Absolute percentage of overall incidence and incidence of grade III/IV adverse events.
