Review Question
Is aloe vera effective in management of acute wounds?
Study Type Included
We will include randomised trials to assess the beneficial effects of the treatments, and will supplement these with observational studies (including cohort and case–control studies) for the assessment of harms.
Condition Being Studied
Acute wound, for example lacerations, surgical incisions and burns.
Participant
Inclusion criteria: patient with acute wounds (as diagnosed using any recognised diagnostic criteria). Exclusion: patient with non-acute wounds.
Animal
Human Disease Modelled
Intervention
Topical use of aloe vera on the acute wound, The reported frequency of intervention were respectively twice a day, three time daily, once every 8-12 hours, once every three days and the other studies didn’t report frequency of intervention, and the follow- up period ranging from 10 days to 8 weeks.
Comparator Control
Placebo.
Main Outcome
The primary outcomes included: 1) time for complete healing; 2) wound healing rate.
