This study systematically evaluated the clinical efficacy of Salviae Miltiorrhizae and Ligustrazine Hydrochloride Injection in the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke, providing a more reliable evidence-based basis for the clinical application of Tibetan Danshen Chuanxiongzin Injection.

Ischemic stroke is the leading cause of death and disability among adults in China, characterized by high morbidity, disability, mortality, and recurrence rate.According to statistics, the age-standardized prevalence of stroke in China in 2013 was 1114.8 per 100, 000, with an incidence rate of 246.8 per 100, 000 and a mortality rate of 114.8 per 100, 000, An ongoing stroke surveillance programme covering 31 provinces in China reported an 8.3% annual increase in the incidence of first stroke in adults, from 189 per 100, 000 population in 2002 to 379 per 100, 000 population in 2013, with the incidence of ischaemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke at 335 per 100, 000 population and 44 per 100, 000 population respectively in 2013. In the United States, more than 795, 000 people suffer a stroke each year, accounting for about one in ten deaths in the United States, and is the leading cause of long-term disability in the country . The number of people suffering from stroke is expected to increase steadily in the coming decades due to an ageing population, population growth, improved stroke care, longer life expectancy in general and an increase in the main risk factors for stroke.

A clinical randomised controlled trial incorporating the guideline Salviae Miltiorrhizae and Ligustrazine Hydrochloride Injection in combination with western medicine for the treatment of acute ischaemic stroke. Meet the diagnostic criteria for acute ischaemic stroke.
