Title
The Role and Mechanism of Ligustrazine for Atherosclerosis in Animal Models: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review
Review Question
we will evaluate the efficacy and summarized the mechanism of ligustrazine in animal models with atherosclerosis. Context and rationale Epidemiological surveys show that the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in people over 20 years old is 48%, which is one of the main causes of death in the global population. Atherosclerosis(AS) is an important pathological basis for inducing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and the incidence of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases related to it continues to rise and is younger trend. Therefore, it is of great clinical significance to actively explore the pathological mechanism of AS and effective treatment options.Ligusticum wallichii (Chuanxiong) is the dried rhizome of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort., first recorded in the earliest complete Pharmacopoeia of China (Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica) from Warring States period to Han Dynasty. In traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is thought to activate blood and promote Qi . For thousands of years, it has been widely used for treatment of cardiovascular diseases .Ligustrazine is the active ingredient of Ligusticum wallichii that was first isolated in 1957. Since then, it has been studied in treatment of diseases such as coronary heart disease.Recent studies reported that Lig was effective in the treatment of AS on account of several pharmacological properties: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifibrosis and immunomodulatory.Nevertheless, scattered evidence and uncertain mechanisms limit the clinical use of Lig for treatment of AS. Systematic review and meta-analysis of preclinical studies are considered to be valuable tools to provide insights into the validity of animal studies, improving the precision of estimated effects, and supporting further generalization to human clinical trials.
Study Type Included
Inclusion criteria: Controlled studies assessing the effects of ligustrazine on animal models with AS were searched. No language, publication date, or publication status restrictions will be imposed. Exclusion criteria: All case reports , clinical trials , reviews, and in vitro studies , cross-over studies, studies without a separate control group.

Inclusion criteria: Laboratory animal models of Atherosclerosis of any age, sex, or strain that were established in any manner will be included. Exclusion criteria: NO atherosclerosis model or atherosclerosis models with diabetes, hypertension and other diseases are excluded.
Human Disease Modelled
Atherosclerosis is the main pathological basis of various cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are the most common clinical diseases.
Intervention
Inclusion criteria: The use of any type of ligustrazine intervention compared with a placebo control will be included. Exclusion criteria: Studies that combined multipletherapies will be excluded.
Comparator Control
