- Condition Being Studied
- Diabetes mellitus is threatening the health of population worldwide and type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all diabetes. The estimated global prevalence of diabetes was 9.3% (463 million people) in 2019, and projections suggest that it will rise to 10.2% by 2030 and 10.9% by 2045. Identifying a modifiable risk factor will help to manage and control the onset and progression of type 2 diabetes. There is inconsistency in the reports which explore the relationship between salt intake and changes of serum glucose level. Therefore, it is crucial to do a meta-analysis on the available literature and determine the relationship between salt intake and serum glucose level, as well as provide a foundation for the development of guideline for the salt intake.
