Condition Being Studied
Diabetes mellitus is threatening the health of population worldwide and type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all diabetes. The estimated global prevalence of diabetes was 9.3% (463 million people) in 2019, and projections suggest that it will rise to 10.2% by 2030 and 10.9% by 2045. Identifying a modifiable risk factor will help to manage and control the onset and progression of type 2 diabetes. There is inconsistency in the reports which explore the relationship between salt intake and changes of serum glucose level. Therefore, it is crucial to do a meta-analysis on the available literature and determine the relationship between salt intake and serum glucose level, as well as provide a foundation for the development of guideline for the salt intake.
Participant
Children, those who are below 18 years old, or pregnant women or individuals with diabetes are not included in this study.
