- Title
- Norepinephrine versus Phenylephrine as a vasopressor for postspinal hypotension in parturients undergoing cesarean section: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
- Review Question
- To compare efficacy and safety of Phenylephrine versus Norepinephrine for management of hypotension during spinal anaesthesia for Caesarean Section
- Study Type Included
- Randomized control trials (RCT) will be included. Observational studies i.e case-control and cohort studies will be excluded. Case reports and case series will be excluded.
- Condition Being Studied
- Hypotension is a common side-effect in women given spinal anaesthesia for caesarean section. Hypotension can be prevented or rapidly corrected by vasopressors. However, which vasopressor is better remains controversial.
- Participant
- Inclusion criteria: Women undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia with norepinephrine or phenylephrine as drugs. Exclusion criteria: Drugs other than norepinephrine or phenylephrine will be excluded
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Use of Norepinephrine for the prevention or treatment of spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension
- Comparator Control
- Phenylephrine act as control for the prevention or treatment of spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension
- Main Outcome
- Incidence of maternal bradycardia Measures of effect Odds ratio or Hazard ratio along with 95% Confidence interval
- Outcome Measure
- Additional Outcome
- Maternal hemodynamics such as Cardiac output, Number and total dose of rescue vasopressor required to maintain BP will be assessed Maternal side effects- nausea and vomiting and other relevant AE Neonatal outcomes(APGAR score and acid-base status). Measures of effect Categorical data - Odds ratio along with 95% Confidence interval. Numerical data - Mean difference along with 95% CI
