- Title
- Effects of norepinephrine versus phenylephrine on neonatal outcome of mothers undergoing caesarean section under regional anaesthesia
- Review Question
- What is the effect of norepinephrine versus phenylephrine on outcome of neonates born to mothers undergoing caesarean section under regional anaesthesia? Population: *Adult pregnant patients undergoing caesarean section under regional anaesthesia Intervention: * Norepinephrine (bolus or infusion) Comparator(s): * Phenylephrine (bolus or infusion) Outcome(s): * Neonatal outcome (umbilical cord blood gases, umbilical lactate, APGAR scores at 1 minute and 5 minutes, need for resuscitation and neonatal mortality).
- Study Type Included
- We will include only randomised controlled trials which involves the use of norepinephrine (bolus or infusion) and phenylephrine (bolus or infusion) in pregnant patients undergoing cesarean section under regional anesthesia and reports the neonatal outcome.
- Condition Being Studied
- Neonatal outcome (umbilical cord blood gases, umbilical lactate, APGAR scores at 1 minute and 5 minutes, need for resuscitation and neonatal mortality).
- Participant
- Adult pregnant patients undergoing caesarean section under regional anaesthesia
- Animal
- Human Disease Modelled
- Intervention
- Norepinephrine (bolus and infusion)
- Comparator Control
- Phenylephrine (bolus or infusion)
- Main Outcome
- These include umbilical cord blood gases, umbilical lactate and APGAR scores at 1 minute and 5 minutes. Other adverse undesirable outcomes include the need for resuscitation, seizures and neonatal mortality. If only other adverse undesirable outcomes are available and main outcome is not reported then the study will be excluded.
