- Study Type Included
- RCT
- Condition Being Studied
- Hyperlipidemia.
- Participant
- Inclusion: (1) the study subjects had hyperlipidemia, either primary or secondary; (2) the study type was randomized controlled trials (RCT); (3) the treatment was GP alone or in combination with other drug(s); (4) the control interventions were lipid-lowering Western medicine; and (5) the study outcome comprised one or more indicators before and after treatment, including TG, TC, LDL-C, and HDL-C. - Intervention
- Chinese herbal medicine is an important natural medicine and is considered an alternative or supplementary medicine for the treatment of hyperlipidemia. The treatment was Gynostemma pentaphyllum alone or in combination with other drug(s). The control interventions were lipid-lowering Western medicine. Hyperlipidemia, or elevated lipid levels, presents the symptoms of elevated total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), or triglyceride (TG) levels.
- Comparator Control
- The control interventions were lipid-lowering Western medicine, including simvastatin tablets, gemfibrozil, atorvastatin tablets and so on.
- Main Outcome
- The study outcome comprised one or more indicators before and after treatment, including TG, TC, LDL-C, and HDL-C. Measures of effect standard mean difference (SMD)
